Airtec Snorkel - Toyota Hilux V6

A member of the North Brisbane Suzuki 4x4 Club (Robert) came up with another solution:

The Airtec Toyota Hilux (V6) Snorkel fits the Grand Vitara. It's a bolt-on fit. It has the same contures of the body and the A-pillar. It looks great! You have to replace the inlet tube in the inner guard with a flex pipe. It's a perfect fit.

You can't see the head when you drive. There's no wind noise either. You can here the engine suck the air though when you floor it. It gives your GV more pull.

The snorkel enters the guard right next to the airbox, just take out the inlet tube that runs inside the guard, and clamp on some bendy hose, thats it. Nothing protrudes into the engine bay.

What you see - under the lower section - is a polished piece of stainless steal. When they went to put the snorkel on, the bolts - when being tightened - were pulling the head of it away from the A-pillar. They made a stainless (polished) spacer to bring it back to line, making it more factory like. However, you don't have to go to this extreme.

Just one last thing, do use the unifilter in your standard airbox. It makes a big difference. Do fit a unifilter pre cleaner also. It fits inside the snorkel where the ram head is. It looks like a long footy sock. There's no noticable difference in driving, but this way you get 2 air filters. After heavy offroading, the pre cleaner may be dirty, but the main airfilter stays clean.

Description

Part Number: 011SAT0287F SNORKEL KIT AIRTEC HILUX 11/97 PETROL RHS.

Flexi hose, 3 1/4 inch, clamps onto the end of the snorkel and straight onto the inlet plastic hose that comes through the inner firewall.
You have to take the inner guard inlet hose off. That is all.
To fill in the gaps around the guard, there is about a 10mm gap between the snorkel and the front of the guard. Just use black Selastic to seal the gap. Once it is done properly, it looks like it was made for the GV.
